Thomas Mizer is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared on stages, in magazines, across billboards and within screens of various sizes and shapes around the country.
As a lyricist and librettist, he was the recipient of a Jonathan Larson Grant from the American Theatre Wing for his musical collaborations with Curtis Moore including The Legend of Stagecoach Mary (NAMT Festival of New Musicals), The Bus to Buenos Aires (Ensemble Studio Theatre), The House of the Seven Gables (ASCAP Workshop) and the New York Fringe Festival hit For the Love of Tiffany. Commissioned by the Williamstown Theatre Festival, he wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the book for Triangle, which premiered at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in the summer of 2015 and received six Theatre Bay Area Awards including “Outstanding World Premiere Musical.” An honors graduate of Northwestern University, he has also completed the BMI Lehman Engel writing workshop and was an artist in residence at the Eugene O’Neill Center’s National Music Theater Conference.
In addition to his theater work, Thomas is an acclaimed copywriter for national media brands including Comedy Central and Food Network. In his “prior” life as an actor, Thomas appeared in roles Off-Broadway & at regional theaters and starred as “Steve” in the First National Tour of Blue’s Clues, Live!, during which he played two sold-out weeks at Radio City Music Hall.
