Triangle is a hit!

Triangle - Drive Away Triangle

Tom and I are extremely happy with the ridiculously strong and positive response we've received for our new workshop production of Triangle in Oklahoma City. Here's an excerpt from Oklahoma City's main newpaper:

Mizer’s deft lyrics and Moore’s sophisticated score yield many humorous and touching moments… It’s hard to imagine a stronger, more capable cast than that assembled here. Their splendid voices receive fine musical support from conductor James Sampliner and his offstage orchestra… while Michael Baron’s expert direction allows the production’s considerable emotional range to work its magic.

With its compelling story and attractive score, “Triangle” seems destined to have a promising future. Thanks to the commitment and talent of people like Moore, Mizer and Baron, such prospects will surely be realized. Rick Rogers, The Oklahoman

Curtis Moore

I was extremely honored to receive the Best Composer Award from the faculty and visiting artists at the NYU/ASCAP Foundation TV & Film Scoring Workshop this past spring. The panel, including Sean Callery (24, Bones, Homeland) NYU film composer-in-residence Ira Newborn (Naked Gun, Blues Brothers) and Mark Snow (X-Files, Blue Bloods), called my cue "inventive, professional and striking by virtue of a remarkably colorful orchestration."

Venice, a musical collaboration between Eric Rosen, Matt Sax, and Trickybox Artist Curtis Moore, opened in Kansas city on April 18, 2010 to across the board Raves. Check out some of the reviews:

"Venice is [an] ambitious and expansive work, combining elements of Shakespeare, Greek tragedy, Brechtian allegory and dystopian political fable, all enhanced by rap narration and a melodic, rock-influenced score that is one of the most winning I have heard onstage in years."

Time Magazine, May 14, 2010

"Venice is hot.  As is in: Emotionally hot. Musically hot. Star-quality hot."

Variety, October 18, 2010

"Venice, a sweaty amalgam of Shakespearean plotting, political allegory and hip-hop jam, is truly exciting at its frequent best."

Backstage, October 18, 2010

"it points the way to thrilling and remarkably fresh artistic directions for musical theater."

Kansas City Star, April 2010

"The production-heavy hip hop fused world premiere musical Venice thrills."

Lost In Reviews, April 2010

"Venice, the newest production at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s Copaken Stage, is a mashup of styles that works on so many levels."

KCFree Press, April 20, 2010

"It’s crude, raw, offensive, devastating … and completely brilliant."

The University News, April 26, 2010

"Venice is the quantum leap that has every potential to redraw the map of Kansas City theatre."

KCMetropolis.org, April 28, 2010
